Role of Executive Management
For whom: Top management, technical managers, quality managers
Implementation of a quality management system is an achievement in itself, but maintaining and improving it from the inside is a challenge to go. Quality management systems, inevitable, result in various obligatory regulations and to some extent limitations to the freedom in which work has to be done. All rules, irrespective of their relevance and obviousness, will meet some degree of reluctance with the people confronted with them. Discipline may slowly start fading, and it is management’s challenge to continuously inspire personnel to sustain and expand the quality culture in the organization. Many managers limit themselves in this by the use of internal audits. As such, this will be quickly experienced as a police watchdog operation rather than an internal tool to realize continuous improvement.
A much better road to follow is by continuous communication, discussion and evaluation of management (managers and auditors) with their personnel on the interpretation of the requirements on the Internal Standard. In addition, the same applies for management and accreditation bodies; management should also stay tuned and informed on international developments of such interpretations with consequences on practical and pragmatic implementation.
This training course is meant for managers and auditors of operational quality management systems.
